“Hi my name is Suddankumar; I did Bachelor of computer science and engineering in India and then masters in Business at Newcastle University. I’m currently on the graduate technology scheme.

My business area is Continuous Process Improvement. You might have heard of the Japanese concept ‘Lean’ – it’s a process improvement concept aimed at enhancing our efficiency in the field of technology. The main aim is to add value for customers.

I’ve been exposed to a lot of different projects in my rotation. Firstly I was working on an HR project, which was interesting because I was able to learn a lot about the HR department. The second project was in Retail Banking, and looked at how to improve the supplier demand process. Again it was interesting as I continued to learn.

Now, my Line Manager has said he’ll give me a list of projects I can look at and select one or two – then I can work on those for the next month. I’m looking forward to it.

I’d say that the Barclays Technology Graduates Scheme is one of the best in the world. It has so many different opportunities, it could be classified as a FTSE 500 company in its own right – trust me, there’s so many different departments like architecture, global delivery systems, quality risk and security systems, so you have endless opportunities.

And if you have different skills, you can focus on them. You don’t have to go into software development if you want to go into business analysis or e-project management instead – there’s a school for every single person and for every single interest.

The different opportunities that I get, the different challenges I get, the different people I meet – everything just keeps me going every day. “
